Sound becomes light

Put on a song.
Watch the room light up.

Suga listens through your microphone, finds the beat, and fills your screen with color that moves with the music — like the Winamp visualizers you remember, for the whole room.

Suga's Disco mode: colored light beams sweep out from a bright point in the middle of the screen, with the mode button at the bottom.

Eight ways to see a song.

Tap the mode button, or swipe it, to change. Switch off the modes you skip and put the rest in your own order.

  • Disco

Colored beams sweep from a center light while mirror-ball sparkles drift by.

  • Spectrum

Winamp-style bars from bass to treble, with falling peak caps.

  • Pulse

A ring of color bursts out on every beat around a spinning spectrum.

  • Assorted

A new color on every beat, brighter when the music is louder.

  • Black & white

The whole screen flips between black and white on the beat.

  • Gradient

A glow in the palette's color that swells with the music.

  • Tiles

A mosaic that sparkles with sound and bursts on the beat.

  • Level

A full-screen LED meter with a peak marker that falls slowly.

From sound to light, about forty times a second.

  1. Listen

Suga reads the microphone in tiny slices and works out how loud the room is and where the sound sits, from deep bass to bright treble.

  2. Find the beat

A kick drum or a clap is a sudden jump in energy. Suga catches it and moves to the next color in the palette.

  3. Light the room

The screen follows the music in real time. Quiet background music and a loud party both get the full show, because Suga adjusts to the room.

  • Your modes, your order

Hide the modes you don't use and drag the rest into place. Suga remembers.

  • Swipe to switch

Swipe the mode button right for the next mode, left for the one before.

  • Palettes that move

Neon, Sunset, Acid, Ocean and Fire. Colors shift every beat; the palette changes every sixteen.

  • Gentle on the eyes

Full-screen flashes stay under three a second. With reduced motion on, the beat pulse switches off and motion slows.

  • Full screen, stays awake

The show fills the screen and keeps it on. Tap anywhere to show or hide the controls.

  • Phone, tablet or browser

Android, iPhone and iPad apps are on the way. The browser version works today.

It listens. It never records.

Suga only measures the sound around it, right on your device, while the show is running. The audio is used for a split second and then it's gone — never saved, never sent anywhere.
